Kerfe des Waldes (Insects of the Forests) is a colorful beautifully illustrated hardcover pocket guide by German Forest Superintendent Dr. Gottfried Amann. In the foreword the author explains he wants to share his knowledge about insects of the forests and their different stages of development, as well as their eating habits and how their habits affect the environment they live in.

The tables beautifully illustrate the main groups of beetles, butterflies, bees, and other insects from their egg / larvae stage to full grown. The illustrated chapter on the damage caused by insects on the inside and outside of tree bark is in the back.

The 5 x 8 inch green linen hardcover book is fully indexed and was published by Verlag von J. Neumann of Neudamm in Nazi Germany in 1941. A previous owner used a pencil here and there in the book and lightly wrote in the (erasable) Czech equivalent for the German names of some of the creatures illustrated. This is visible in our pictures above and below.

This beautifully illustrated 81 year old entomology hardcover Kerfe des Waldes is in very nice used condition. No odor.
