This is the real thing, not a fanciful reproduction or a piece assembled from parts. It is an absolutely original 18-½ inch long chain composed of 10 oval eagle and swastika links, 10 oval twin oak leaf links and one round twin oak leaf link in the middle assembled with round wire connector links.
The twin oak leaf oval links on each end have wire hooks attached to hang the gorget. The piece came from the Assmann factory in Lüdenscheid before the German surrender at the end of World War II.
Ringkragen or gorgets were worn by Germany Army regimental standard bearers and had a dull silver finish as does this chain. The chain has 100% of its original finish and it looks like it was never used. The patina does not vary from one oval to another or from one link to another. It is simply as good as any Ringkragen chain that one could find anywhere 70 years after the fact.
