This two-part threaded 2-3/4 x 5 inch brown cylindrical bakelite container was made in Nazi Germany in 1940 / 1941 to hold the adjustable fuse for an artillery round. To store it, the fuse is set in the cap and the cylindrical container is threaded on top of it. Thus, the delicate fuse is held tightly and protected until it is ready for use. We do not know what fuse this canister originally contained, but it is marked 2L on the cap end. Inside the cap is marked 1941 eqe [the manufacturer code] 714E. The container is marked inside 1940 KM 1086/2. Fine original condition. |
