This is a nice, original high-quality all-woven (not sewed on) Nazi armband consisting of red cotton material 3-3/4 inch (95 mm) wide made specially for making nazi armbands. There is a BEVO embroidered white circle about 3-¼ inches (83 mm) in diameter containing a BEVO embroidered black Hakenkreuz or swastika in the middle that measures 2-¼ inches (57 mm) across.
After weaving, the red band was sewed together into a loop in the back with a seam so that it has to be pulled over and up the sleeve to be worn. Near the seam are the words BEVO BARMEN (Bandfabrik Ewald Vorsteher of Barmen) and GES. GESCH. (Gesetzlich Geschützt, the German equivalent of Patented).

The Ewald Vorsteher weaving company of Wuppertal used huge programmable jacquard-type looms to produce endless bands of repeating, multi-color insigne. They used a squirrel logo, and owned the tradename BEVO. Collector books on the subject of insigne often incorrectly identify the etymology of the word BEVO. It was a contraction of the four underlined letters in the name of the company, Bandfabrik Ewald Vorsteher. The Third Reich advertisement shown left ran in 1936.

This is a genuine Third Reich swastika armband that came out of a World War II veteran lot we acquired recently. It has never been in the hands of a collector or messed with by a dealer. Slightly soiled but in good used condition; no odor, will not fluoresce under a black light.
