Merkblatt roughly translates as information sheet or technical bulletin and many different kinds were issued during the Third Reich. The two original 3-3/8 x 5-½ inch examples offered on this USMBOOKS web page date to 1942 and have instructions that they were to be placed inside a Soldbuch, the Pay Book and Personal Identification Document carried by all members of the Wehrmacht.

It explains what malaria is, its symptoms, how to avoid getting it, malaria tablets, etc. Clearly produced for members of the Afrikakorps (DAK) as malaria was not an illness Germans were acquainted with on the European continent. Rare in in nice used condition. |
