This is a rare book, the only one of its type to be published during the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler that we are aware of. Männer schaffen Europa (The Men Who Are Creating Europe) by Orazio Marcheselli was intended as a tribute to the Neue Ordnung or the New Order then being carried out in the creation of a completely new Europe. That Europe was intended to be a fascist, anti-communist one under Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Antonescu, Mannerheim, King Boris, Admiral von Horthi, Dr. Pawelitsch and Dr. Tiso in Germany, Italy, Spain, Rumania, Finland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Croatia and Slowakia respectively.

There are photos of members of the Italian Fascist youth organization Balilla, Mussolini swinging a pick, Mussolini working the crowds, marching on Rome, reviewing the troops and in the field with the army. Troops of other nations are seen in service with German Wehrmacht units or fighting the communists on their own.

This is a very nice used, 8-1/4 x 10-1/2 inch, 192-page example of the very, very heavily illustrated hardcover book Männer schaffen Europa as published by I. Cappelli in Bologna, Italy, probably in 1942 or 1943 (it is undated).


This 75+ year old example of Männer schaffen Europa is complete and in very good original condition, no writing, no odor.

The German section of the book depicts Hitler (often with Mussolini) accepting the adulation of the crowds, military and industrial might and triumph, happy, healthy looking people, and endless parades of Nazi military equipment in the streets of Berlin. There are paratroopers, Luftwaffe airplanes and pilots, Nazi tanks and submarines, and combat photographs. Each of the Fascist leaders is pictured in at least one full-page portrait along with interesting biographical information.

As no other book does, Männer schaffen Europa shows the leaders of these nations and their accomplishments, from Hitler’s new Reichsautobahn and Mussolini’s “March on Rome” and their joint military mission against the communistic Soviet Union. Naturally, the emphasis is on the two biggest of these countries - Germany and Italy - with an amazing selection of very rarely seen full-page black & white photographs.
