Das Buch von der Kriegsmarine is an excellent, in-depth book about the Nazi Navy assembled by renowned Korvettenkapitän Fritz Otto Busch. While the blue linen hardcover has white paint specks on it, the contents of the 6-½ x 9-¼ inch, 196-page heavily illustrated hardcover book itself is undamaged and in very nice condition.

Chapters in this Third Reich navy handbook cover the tasks and organization of the Kriegsmarine, a list of all the ships, boats and submarines of the large Nazi Navy, weapons, actual uses, Kriegsmarine formations, military ship construction and equipment, navigation, Kriegsmarine crews, naval service and traditions, etc.

Das Buch von der Kriegsmarine starts with a full-page photo of Adolf Hitler and Dr. h.c. Raeder, the Supreme Commander of the Kriegsmarine. Other photos show the Panzerschiff Deutschland, Admiral Spree, Schlachtschiff Scharnhorst and many cruisers and minesweepers, Hitler aboard the Deutschland accompanied by Field Marshal Blomberg, Admiral Raeder and Hermann Goering, with sailors, many submarines, sailors at work and at rest, inside a U-Boot, a KdF cruise ship at sea, a German naval cemetery at Wilhelmshaven, and the Kriegsmarine monument at Kiel-Laboe.

The rare book has 105 pictures on glossy paper, 108 illustrations and four full-color plates. The color plates show flags like the Führer flag, Kriegsmarine uniforms and flags of the many civilian German shipping companies.

Aside from ship sketches, the handy illustrations show military naval formations, keel lines, flag signals, rope knots, sea markers, signs, morse code, compasses, sailors in actions, etc.

Published by Deutsches Verlagshaus Bong of Berlin and Leipzig in 1939 or 1940, this example of Das Buch von der Kriegsmarine is complete and in very nice used condition. The 1+ inch thick hardcover Nazi book has no unpleasant odor.
