This lot consists of two rare issues of the monthly Nazi publication Kraft durch Freude (Strength Through Joy), the magazine of the Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF or German Labor Front). They are the November 1938 and April 1941 editions published in NSDAP Gau Oberdonau (Upper Danube province).
These two rare original Nazi KdF magazines contain photos of August Eigruber, the Gauleiter of NSDAP Gau Oberdonau, ethnic German women from the Sudetenland (which had recently become a part of Adolf Hitler’s Greater Germany), the KdF Wagen on the Reichsautobahn and in city traffic, the KdF cruise ship ‘Wilhelm Gustloff’, author Franz Tumler, healthy young men and women in sport attire, Hitler’s Geburtshaus in Braunau, German poets, actors and actresses, Slovakian Nazi Party members enjoying Nazi Germany, pretty scenery, and more.

Other articles explain the concept of Schönheit der Arbeit (Beauty of Labor), company sport leagues and there are new book reviews as well. The back cover has an (unused) tear-off form to order issues of KdF entertainment programs in different German cities (Braunau, Linz, Wels, Steyr, etc.).
The heavily illustrated 8-1/4 x 11-5/8inch April 1941 issue has 18 pages (including the front and back covers) and starts with an article about the house in which Adolf Hitler (“The Man who Changed Our Destiny”) was born in Braunau am Inn on 20 April 1889. Other articles cover the first Poet Week organized in Reichsgau Oberdonau, cultural performances for KdF members, Nazi Party members from Slovakia visiting NSDAP Gau Oberdonau (including a visit to the grave of Hitler’s parents in Leonding - shown below), the process of qualifying for the Reichssportabzeichen or Nazi Sport Badge, as well as articles highlighting the cities of Passau and Krummau.

The heavily illustrated 8-1/4 x 11-5/8 inch November 1938 issue of Kraft durch Freude has 28 pages (including the front and back covers). This is Folge 1, or the rare first issue of Kraft durch Freude in Nazi Austria. It has an article about the KdF-Wagen - how to buy one, the KdF Sparkarte, which colors were available, learning how to drive, etc. Reichsleiter Dr. Robert Ley wrote an article about KdF leisure travel being affordable for average German citizens, and there is advertising for many different KdF holidays by boat or bus (to Munich, Italy, Vienna, Salzburg, ski trips to the Alps, etc.).
Any Nazi magazine featuring the KdF Wagen in text and photos is very difficult to find in the 21st century.
Both heavily illustrated, original Third Reich examples of the Nazi magazine Kraft durch Freude offered for sale on this USMBOOKS web page are complete and in nice used condition. No writing, no odor, nothing cut out, no tape.
This lot of two rare original Kraft durch Freude magazines is ** SOLD **
