Jewish refugee Hugo Oestreicher treasure trove
The alphabetical list that follows contains names of Jewish persons, businesses, and families, from Adler and Baruch to Warschawski and Zuckermann, that lived and worked or were associated with the International Stateless Refugee Zone in Shanghai, China between 1939 and 1945. They have been extracted from concert, theater and opera programs, tickets, refugee registrations, and Japanese Consular documents that are part of this lot. Those ephemeral items constitute a veritable Who’s Who of the Jewish Zone of Shanghai, China from the late 1930s until the end of World War II.

JEWISH NAMES: INTERNATIONAL STATELESS REFUGEE ZONE, SHANGHAI

From the ephemera in the Oestreicher suitcase we have assembled a list of names of other German Jews who fled Nazi Germany and lived in Shanghai during World War II. We add it to this listing for the sake of history and in the hopes it might help others with family research.
