Hoffmann photo books
As everyone interested in the subject knows, the excellent photographic books produced by Hitler’s friend and personal photographer Heinrich Hoffmann in München (Munich), Germany made him a wealthy man. Hoffmann’s books also left an incredible archive of Third Reich images for historians to examine; which provide all of us with a comprehensive look inside Nazi Germany in the 1930s and 1940s.
Mercedes-Benz
Hitler & Fritz Todt
Among the best but most obscure of the Hoffmann books is the volume we offer here: Hitler erobert das Deutsche Herz or “Hitler Conquers the German Heart”, published in 1939 by Zeitgeschichte Verlag in Berlin, a compilation of three earlier books in a single hard cover volume.
British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain
Nazi uniforms Fuhrerbau Munchen
The seldom seen 7-1/2 x 10 inch, beautifully half-leather bound book combines Hitler in seiner Heimat (Hitler in His Home Land), Hitler baut Grossdeutschland (Hitler Constructs Greater Germany) and Hitler befreit Sudetenland (Hitler Liberates Sudetenland), all from 1938 in one book with special Hoffmann Studio gold blocking on the parchment-like front cover and along the brown leather spine.
Hermann Goering The books together contain over 235 Hoffmann photographs of the most historic kind - Hitler returning to his birth place in Oberdonau (Braunau, his parents’ grave in Leonding, his family home, Linz, Melk, Wien, etc.) and his triumphant return to Berlin after the reunification of Germany with Austria.
Swastika in Salzburg
There are photos of the re-incorporation of lost territories back into the German Reich and the many ceremonies attendant to the Ein Volk • Ein Reich • Ein Führer concept. Many photos show the travels of the Führer, Adolf Hitler. Among the most interesting are those taken at the Berghof on the Obersalzberg just above Berchtesgaden in Bayern when Hitler hosted British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and others.
Grosse Mercedes
Those photos are followed by an excellent series on the signing of the Munich Accords in which the French, British and Italians agreed to allow Hitler to do as he wished with much of Europe.
Other photographs show Hitler with Dr. Ing. Fritz Todt beginning sections of the Reichsautobahn, Hitler praying, Hitler voting, Hitler with children, and Hitler with well-known Nazi dignitaries such as Dr. Goebbels, Reichsführer-SS Himmler, SS General Reinhard Heydrich, Benito Mussolini, Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring, Gauleiter Bürckel, Deputy Führer Rudolf Hess, Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop, Reichsstatthalter Arthur Seyß-Inquart, Konrad Henlein, Hitler’s offices in the Führerbau in München, with French Prime Minister Daladier, entering the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia, inspecting Czech fortifications, etc.

This beautifully made rare book is in fine condition.
