This example of Mit Adolf Hitler auf Festung Landsberg is a rare Fourth Edition published in “the fourth year of the mighty war”. It contains an extra Vorwort by the author dated August 1943 in which he expresses the importance of the ongoing war (Germany securing the future of Europe). In the foreword he remembers Nazi comrades who were important Nazi ‘fighters’ in the early days of the NSDAP and who died since this book first came out in 1939. The best known one mentioned is SA-Obergruppenführer Oberst Hermann Kriebel who died on 16 February 1941 (after having been an arms dealer in China after his release from Landsberg Prison and served as the German Consul General in Shanghai from 1933-1937) and whose official funeral ceremony was in front of the Feldherrnhalle in Munich, Capital of the Nazi Movement, attended by Adolf Hitler.
The text of the book is the same as earlier editions of 1939, but this 6-½ x 9 inch 216-page softcover mid-war edition of Mit Adolf Hitler auf Festung Landsberg has no pictures (even though they are mentioned on the title page). There are a few sketches and facsimiles of letters and documents, including a pen drawing by Hitler himself (shown above).
Mit Adolf Hitler auf Festung Landsberg (With Adolf Hitler in Landsberg Prison) is a very rare Third Reich book written by Oberleutnant a.D. Hans Kallenbach, the former "Stosstrupp Adolf Hitler 1923" Maschinengewehr-Zugführer who was in prison with Hitler after the failed Nazi Putsch of 9 November 1923. It was originally published in the spring of 1939 by Verlag Kreß & Hornung of Munich.
In his foreword Kallenbach explains that he wrote this book to shed light on a part of the history of the Nazi Movement, the details of which were not commonly known. As a fellow prisoner, he used obscure photos, memories of the time in prison, excerpts from letters, and portions of his diary to sketch what life was like when Adolf Hitler was imprisoned at Festung Landsberg west of Munich, the time during which he wrote Mein Kampf.
This 80 year old Third Reich book is in good used condition with some shelf wear and staining to the covers. It is complete just as it was printed in 1943 and has no odor.
This 1943 fourth edition of the rare Nazi book about Hitler's time in Landsberg Prison is ** SOLD **
