This is a fancy, big, hardcover book containing more than 250 very detailed, large size pictures of the cities throughout Großdeutschland, Adolf Hitler's Greater Germany. What makes this book, Großdeutschland - Die Städte unique among photo books produced during the Third Reich is that all the photographs were taken specifically for this book. No "old stock" photos were used, so many photos in this book are heavily decorated with swastika flags, swastika bunting, cars of the late 1930s, Nazi buildings, etc., etc.

The photos of München quite naturally show the Feldherrnhalle as well as the Nazi buildings and Honor Temples on the Königsplatz. Those of Berlin include a unique view of Hitler's New Reichschancellery through the special doorway opening into the Honor Courtyard (shown right). Dresden is pictured, as are Nürnberg, Ulm, Augsburg, Weimar, Regensburg, Frankfurt, Potsdam, Trier, Mainz, Meissen, Heidelberg, Stuttgart, Vienna and others.

Großdeutschland - Die Städte also has photos of cities in the newly occupied German territories in the East and West: Stettin, Krakau, Danzig, Memel, Stolp, Metz, Colmar, Strassbourg, Königsberg and others.

Eight of the photographs are in full-color and every caption under the black & white photos is in German, English, French, Italian and Spanish.

This fancy edition of Großdeutschland - Die Städte has an embossed leather spine with gold blocking, leather corners and is fully indexed. It is in very good condition. The 9-1/2 x 12-1/48 inch, very heavily illustrated hardcover book weighs over 3 pounds, has 276 pages and was published by Adam Kraft Verlag of Karlsbad and Leipzig Im Kriegsjahr 1940 ("in the War Year 1940").
