Der große deutsche Feldzug gegen Polen (The Great German Battle Against Poland) is the definitive German Army photo-history of the first military campaign of Hitler's Third Reich. This book was published in cooperation with the Nazi Party's Chief of Photography, Professor Heinrich Hoffmann and the Head of the Archives of the Army in Berlin. The example we offer here is in splendid condition, complete with the original Third Reich blank paper dust jacket and protective carton.

A short text is accompanied by hundreds upon hundreds of the very best German combat photographs ever taken. Most are half-page or full-page and some are double page spreads. Each is accompanied by a very substantial caption. There are more than two dozen full-page portraits of Knight's Cross medal winners and military leaders who took a prominent part in the short but fierce destruction of the Polish Army.

There is a big photo of a truckload of Jews being deported, a photo of Hitler and Sepp Dietrich, a very rare photo of Hitler in Poland with his Adjutant Erwin Rommel, photos of enormous weapons caches seized by the Germans, SS troops from Danzig, the corpses of ethnic German civilians killed by Polish death squads (photo below), the huge military review before Hitler in Warsaw, etc., etc.

These photo pages are followed by a battle chronology from 1 September through 5 October 1939.

This huge book measures 9-½ x 12-¾ inches, weighs about well over 3 pounds, contains nearly 350 very, very heavily illustrated pages, and was published by A. Franz Göth in Wien (Vienna) in 1940. It is in excellent condition, probably unread.  

If you need a fine copy of this rare hardcover Hoffmann photo book, we can tell you it would be difficult to find a better one than this 84 year old example of Der große deutsche Feldzug gegen Polen. It looks unread, no odor.

Every branch of the German Wehrmacht from the SS to the Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe and Army is represented in the big clear photos chosen for this rare book. It shows in absolute terms the overwhelming military might of Hitler's forces unleashed against the modern, well entrenched military forces of Poland. All types of planes, tanks, weapons and vehicles are shown.
