Die neue Linie was a heavily illustrated German Third Reich 'lifestyle' magazine published between 1929 and 1943 by Verlag Otto Beyer of Leipzig. Each oversized magazine contained articles, photos and illustrations of the newest trends in travel, technique, architecture, fashion, interior decorating, etc. and the issues published during World War II had colorful covers and contained war news and photos as well. The target audience was educated, fashion conscious women. The magazines were for sale for 1 Reichsmark at bookstores and magazine vendors. In March 1943 the last issue of Die neue Linie was published.
Offered for sale on this USMBOOKS web page are THREE rare 10-1/2 x 14-3/8 inch war-time issues of Die neue Linie: September 1941, January 1942 and September 1942, a total of 120 heavily illustrated pages.
These are not just random Nazi magazines but these issues were saved by somebody for their content - war news, war heroes, OKW announcements, German occupied territories, war art, Waffen-SS men and Knight's Cross winners, the Invasion of Poland and Luftwaffe airplanes above the North African desert, the Greater German Art Exhibition of 1942, short stories about the war, etc.
There is wonderful period advertising in these three World War II era Nazi magazines from women's underwear to champagne, phonograph records to books, cigarettes, suitcases and toothpaste by companies such as Kienzle, Bols, Agfa, Fiat, Velveta, Leica, Junghans, Gold Pfeil, Fleurop, Cinzano, Dr. Oetker, Felina, Moritz Mädler, Philips, Electrola Columbia, Ford-Köln, etc. Many of these companies are still in business today!
Many of the SS men and Knight's Cross winners shown in the three images (above left and below) are very well-known, but are identified by their rank and first name only, their last name is not mentioned, just the first letter of it! For example, SS-Standartenführer Hermann Fegelein shown above wearing his Ritterkreuz, is identified as "SS-Standartenführer Hermann F." He was a decorated cavalry officer and the liason officer between Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler and married Eva Braun's sister Gretl on 3 June 1944 with Hitler, Himmler and Bormann as witnesses. He was shot in the Reichschancellery garden in Berlin on 28 April 1945 on Hitler's order after he was caught trying to escape the capital in civilian clothes.
Above is a close-up of the striking cover of the September 1942 issue of Die neue Linie so the globe with the flags of the AXIS powers is visible. Artist Kurt Kranz positioned the globe next to a Nazi rifle and hand grenade!
These three 77+ year old issues of Die neue Linie are complete and in very nice used condition. They contain fantastic photo content!
No pages or pictures have been torn out, and the magazines were never damp. No odor.
