![Nazi Blood and Soil table medal and ID](images/BLUTuBODEN/Schmoeker/Schmoeker2.jpg)
When we purchased this ID southeast of Uelzen, Germany recently, it came with the big, very heavy silver metal Reichnährstand Blut und Boden table medal from the a Reichnährstand Blut und Boden chapter in Thuringia. The medal alone weighs an amazing one-half pound (!) and measures 3-9/16 inches (90 mm) in diameter. As you can see in our photos the eagle, swastika, oak leaves and lettering on the front is beautifully detailed and the back is plain, but both sides have a consistent old patina. We can find no manufacturer or metallic content markings on it, but if it is silver the metal is worth a lot. Its historic value is far more.
Most people with an interest in the history of Third Reich Germany are familiar with the Reichsnährstand Blut und Boden, the National Socialist 'Blood and Soil' organization that oversaw and regulated agricultural production and distribution in Nazi Germany. Head of the Blut und Boden organization was Reichsbauernführer Walther Darré. National Socialists celebrated the ideology behind "Blood and Soil", and the virtues of rural agricultural life and the sturdy stock of Germanic people of pure Aryan blood.
The logo of the Reichnährstand Blut und Boden is printed on the front of this original Third Reich four-page card stock Beitragskarte (contribution card) which was issued to Getrud Schmöker on 1 August 1936 by the Kreisbauernschaft of Uelzen, a small town near Hamburg. Her occupation was listed as Dienstmagd (live-in maid) and she paid Blut und Boden dues from September 1936 through March 1938 according to the colorful stamps attached to pages 2 and 3.
This original Nazi Blut und Boden table medal and ID is ** SOLD **.
