This is a 6-1/4 x 8-7/8 inch, 96-page BdM booklet published by the Reichsjugendführung der NSDAP in Berlin with the purpose of educating German girls, future wives and mothers with the National Socialist world view. Sommerlager- und Heimabendmaterial für die Schulungs- und Kulturarbeit translates as “Summer Camp and Home Evening Material for Schooling and Cultural Education” and dates to the summer of 1941 (June-July-August).

It starts with a full-page photo portrait of Reichsjugendführer Baldur von Schirach and his successor Artur Axmann. Chapters, poems and song lyrics cover character, loyalty, courage, discretion, the duty of labor (especially during the war), responsibility for family, community and the German Nation (“Girls, remember you are German!”), and other important things for Jungmädel to know.

There are many Adolf Hitler quotes (Der Führer sagt…or “The Führer Says…”) as well as lyrics for patriotic songs, soldier- and marching songs to be sung in camp barracks and BdM gatherings. There are also examples of arts and crafts projects for BdM Home Evening gatherings.

There are 16 pages of photos and illustrations printed on glossy paper. Photos show the cathedral of Strassburg and Danzig, City Hall in Posen, the Charles Bridge in Prague with Hradcany Castle in the background, and Karlstein Castle near Prague. There are also beautiful black & white illustrations by artist Ragimund Reimesch that show sights in Luxembourg, Metz, Eupen, and a girl from Alsace wearing a traditional folklore outfit.

The material in this Nazi publication was meant for girls aged 17-21 who were members of the BdM Glaube und Schönheit (Belief and Beauty) organization, the link between the work of the League of German Girls and that of the Nationalsozialistische Frauenschaft or National Socialist Women's League.
