The Deutsche Informationsstelle or German Office of Information in Berlin was a Nazi propaganda institute specializing in translations of propaganda into various European languages. They published a series of extremely anti-British books in the same size and binding in 1940 called England ohne Maske (“England Unmasked” or “England without a Mask”). |
We have acquired several different examples in very nice condition and offer them for sale on separate USMBOOKS web pages, links are at bottom of this web page. We offer a 15% discount for the purchase of two or more England ohne Maske books at one time. |
Hundert Familien Beherrschen das Empire (One Hundred Families that Rule the Empire) is book number 10 from the “England Unmasked” series, printed in 1940 by Deutschen Verlag in Berlin. Author Giselher Wirsing was a member of the Nazi Party and SS, a consultant for the cultural policy department of the Nazi Foreign Office, Head of Policy at the Nazi newspaper Münchner Neueste Nachrichten and frequent contributor to SIGNAL magazine. He was considered an expert on Great Britain and the British Commonwealth.
The 5-¼ x 8-¼ inch, 102-page softcover Nazi book Hundert Familien Beherrschen das Empire was meant to show the ‘real’ Great Britain to the German people. It has unflattering chapters about the way Parliament works and its connections with the financial world in London, British bankers (“the real rulers of England” according to Wirsing), the influence of important armament industry firms, the few British families that hold ALL key positions in the country, the hundred British families that profit from colonial income (the author uses the words loot and booty), the “have-nots” in Britain and English plutocracy, the London Stock Exchange, etc., and all are described in the most direct terms.
The book has several photos pages printed on glossy paper, schematic tables and even a large fold-out page showing the intermarriage between members of Parliament. In another fold-out depicts the family of Sir Charles Barrie at the center of a very powerful group of British people.
In very good condition. Looks unread, no odor.
