This is a very rare mid-war Nazi photo book called USA nackt! (USA naked!) which has the snarky subtitle “Images from God’s Own Country”.

“America writes, shouts and broadcasts all over the world, Destroy Germany” and USA nackt! was published in Nazi Germany to show Germans the ‘real America”. The 7 x 9-3/4 inch German language book is filled with pictures depicting the USA as a degenerate country ruled by braggy gangsters and unsavory Jews, full of poverty, violence, unemployment, alcohol abuse and immorality.

USA nackt! was assembled by Erwin Berghaus and contains images by Weltbild, Scherl-Bilderdienst, Presse-Bild-Zentrale and several American magazines such as LIFE. The first photo shows an exuberant President Roosevelt with the caption “I have my War!” There are several other anti-FDR photos (including one of his “Jewish Wall Street banker friends” and one (shown right) of FDR surrounded by freemasons in the White House), and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt isn’t shown at her best either.

Other pictures show “the reality and political lies”, “lack of culture” and “false morality” on the continent where its citizens “can enjoy life in peace during war”.

There are pictures of police brutality, mistreatment of workers, the huge contrast between wealthy and powerful people and poor citizens, public hangings, show girls, excessive nudity on Broadway, Jewish influences in the film industry in Hollywood (which is referred to as the “Jerusalem of America”), unemployment lines, floods, “charming career criminal” Al Capone, and even the family of mass murderer John Dillinger during a public relations appearance.

Published in 1943 by Brunnen Verlag of Berlin, this First (and only) Edition softcover example of USA nackt! is in very nice, little used condition and comes with its extremely rare original dust jacket. The 7 x 9-3/4 inch nearly 80 year old Nazi propaganda photo book has a tight spine, no odor and is wrapped in an additional protective mylar cover. The pages are not numbered but we guess there are about 150.
