NAZI SS MARKED FIELD SPOON / FORK
THE BESTECK OR EATING UTENSILS FROM
THE MESS KIT OF A WAFFEN-SS TROOPER
This is a spoon / fork combination manufactured in Nazi Germany for the use of a soldier of the Waffen-SS in the field. The 6 inch spoon can be rotated 180° from the fork to make a 9 inch long combination spoon and fork. Similar Besteck or eating utensils were not unusual in the Wehrmacht but this one is particularly nice marked on the fork handle as shown in our photo. The markings include the year of manufacture (1937) in a circle, a Nazi eagle and swastika over the Waffenamt manufacturer designation WaA142, the letters CFH in a circle, and two entwined SS runes in a rectangular octagon.
The set is used but in very good condition. We purchased it from the estate of a US Army 5th Armored Division (Victory Division) veteran in May 2007.
