Fünf Wiegen und noch eine (Five Cradles and Another) is a 5-1/2 x 8-1/4 inch, 206 page hard cover book that tells a part of the story of the ancestry of the Herse family and the houses they lived in while Herse's children were small.
This is certainly one of the most beautiful books printed during the Third Reich by the SS Publishing House, Nordland Verlag in Berlin, Germany.
It was written by SS-Obersturmführer Henrik Herse and illustrated by Herse and his daughters Annemarie and Elfriede. Of special interest to advanced collectors today is the fact that the SS Allach Porcelain factory in Allach (suburban Munich) created porcelain figures of girls based Herse designs.
It is lovingly told with superb color and black & white illustrations of everything from a chained SS Officer's dagger to Viking ships, baby cradles, swastikas, flowers and the activities of children interspersed with hard hitting Herse poems about life and the SS view of heredity.
Fünf Wiegen und noch eine should be in the library of any advanced SS collector. This example is in very good, used condition. It has a tight spine, with minor discoloration and wear on the cover.
