This is a very rare, heavily illustrated, extremely anti-Jewish Nazi school book teaching middle school children in Nazi Germany about the importance of race and pure German blood to secure the future of the German Nation. Virtually all copies of this book were sought out and destroyed by Allied de-nazification teams at the end of World War II.
In the foreword of Rassen-ABC, author Franz Lüke states that according to the Führer, “whose word he considers the law”, no child should leave school without knowing the the ABCs of race, and that the Führer needs the help of the German Youth to accomplish his racial goals.
This rare, heavily illustrated 1935 Nazi school book starts by explaining the pollination of plants and some vegetables (cells, chromosomes, hereditary disposition, etc.). Then Lüke moves on to the reproduction of animals using rabbits and Guinea pigs as examples.
Some pages further on the author has arrived at homo sapiens and explains human hereditary law, the basics of a family tree, family research, and the importance of family to race and the nation. The author warns that the outer appearance of people can misleading, that some people have a light complexion but still might be an undesirable race that should not be mixed with pure, German blood.
Lebensraum and the need for Germany to grow to accommodate its projected increasing population is the next subject. Lüke says there needs to be space so pure blooded Germans do not leave their Heimat or fatherland to seek their fortunes elsewhere. The chapter called Volk ohne Raum (A Nation without Space) has maps and statistics about the population in Germany, other European countries, the Soviet Union and the large number of racial Germans living outside Nazi Germany.
The photo above shows different races in Germany and Europe, and the photo right explains the characteristics of different races such as the Caucasian, Mongolian, the Negro, and Native Americans (yellow-brown skin color, low skull, sharp/bent nose, straight black hair).
The clear message in Rassen-ABC is that foreign races are a threat to the existence of Europe, that Jewish blood should not be mixed with German blood. The ABCs, or the keys to understanding all matters of race, are explained in very simple, plain, and easy to understand language for German middle school children.
The chapter about the Nordic Race covers how it created the German people and nation through the centuries. It contains an interesting paragraph about the 5.5 million Germans that emigrated to the United States between 1814 and 1914 and that the ones that became farmers are keeping their Nordic race pure. Franz Lüke concludes Die Nordische Rasse chapter with the observation that a nation dies when Nordic people don’t reproduce fast enough, or when they mix with other races.

Juden is the name of the chapter in which Lüke explains that Jews are the biggest threat to the German race. Point 4 of the Nazi Party Program is quoted, “No Jew can be a German citizen.” There are statistics about the Jewish influence on German business, politics, medicine, education, etc. All this is changing since the Führer took charge in Germany - Jews are leaving the country and their birth rate is going down, according to the author!
There are illustrations of a Nazi Ahnentafel, the appearance of different races, reproduction theory, statistical tables showing Jewish influence, population changes (size and location), and more.
This book was published in 1935, the same year German Parliament passed the Nuremberg Race Laws that stripped Jews of their German citizenship. Part of the Nürnberger Gesetze was called the “Protection of German Blood and German Honor”, and many of the racial theories on which those laws were based are explained in this book, Rassen-ABC.
This rare 6 x 9-¼ inch, 82-page softcover book was published by Verlags- und Lehrmittel-Anstalt Ferdinand Kamp, a publishing company in Bochum that produced schoolbooks before, during and even after the Third Reich! Rassen-ABC is by far the rarest and most anti-Semitic of them. This 85 year old example is in excellent, very lightly-used condition and has no odor.
This extremely rare 1935 Nazi schoolbook on race is ** SOLD **.
