This is absolutely original Nazi era advertising by the huge German chemical conglomerate and concentration camp operator I.G. Farbenindustrie Aktiengesellschaft, better known simply as IG Farben. In this 8-¼ x 11-¼ inch four-page brochure, the manufacturer of Zyklon B advertises Locron H and Intravan N, two different varieties of economical, easy to apply fire retardant chemicals to prevent fire from spreading.

INTRAVAN N was a fire retardant chemical in powder form that was to be mixed with water and applied to wood. The advertising claims that it does not affect the color of wood or lacquer, thereby making it very "valuable for air raid protection in existing buildings." It also prevented mold and could be mixed with color dies making it possible "to combine fire safety and beauty."

LOCRON H was a fire retardant chemical that turned into foam when exposed to heat, forming a tick protecting layer for wood. It also prevented mold and was available is several different colors.

Both Intraven N and Locron H were tested by the state and endorsed by the RLB or Reichsluftschutzbund according to information on the back panel, and were safe for humans and cattle.

IG Farben got its start and made its name in chemical dyes of all kinds, especially indigo color dyes. A research oriented company, IG Farben owned Bayer pharmaceutical company, Agfa photographic products, the Leuna gasoline company, Beuna synthetic rubber industries, light metal manufacturing industries, synthetic gemstone manufacturing, insulation companies, waterproofing and mothproofing companies, etc., etc. IG Farben was an industry leader in every field they entered and in 1937 the company had over 17,000 employees!

During World War II their Leuna synthetic gasoline production facilities were prime US 15th Air Force and US 8th Air Force bombing targets. The entire concentration camp at Auschwitz was built around the Beuna synthetic rubber manufacturing facilities there which were built, managed and run on a day-to-day basis by IG Farben, the company that produced this brochure.

Very rare Nazi era IG Farben advertising in very good condition. Undated, but absolutely original to the Third Reich period in Germany.
