This is a rare Third Reich document on several levels. It is the official appointment to Oberarzt of Dr. Walter Rainer, dated Berchtesgaden 12 March 1941 and bearing the signatures of Führer und Reichskanzler Adolf Hitler and Nazi Reichminister of the Interior Heinrich Himmler. The Hitler signature is either printed in blue ink or applied by autopen, and the HEINRICH HIMMLER SIGNATURE IS ABSOLUTELY AUTHENTIC, SIGNED IN PEN AND INK.
The beautiful 14 x 20 inch (folds to 10 x 14 inch) Nazi appointment document is dated 12 March 1941 and is enclosed in a slightly larger heavy linen-finish art board folder with a ragged edge and a gold eagle and swastika embossed in the center. The actual appointment document is printed on heavy cream color paper, is written Im Namen des Deutschen Volkes (In the Name of the German Nation) and bears a printed or autopen signature of Adolf Hitler as the Führer and a GENUINE PEN AND INK SIGNATURE OF THE CHIEF OF GERMAN POLICE, Heinrich Himmler.
The genuine Nazi appointment document also bears the big 3-1/4 inch emboss of the Hoheitszeichen or National Seal (an eagle and swastika) in a wreath of oak leaves. Like other important documents of this sort, the German text below Rainer’s name assures him of the Führer’s protection.

Any document signed by Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler in very rare today, especially those with the Hitler counter signature (autopen or otherwise) and those signed at Berchtesgaden. Most similar documents were not signed at Berchtesgaden, but either in Berlin or at the Führerhauptquartier (Wolfsschanze) at Rastenburg.
There is a stain on the blank portion of the actual promotion document but it does not affect the printed portion containing the appointment and the signatures. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity executed by well-known authors and collectors, Ray & Josephine Cowdery.
