Die Jugend des Führers Adolf Hitler (The Youth of Leader Adolf Hitler) is subtitled “Picture Book about the Youth of Greater Germany” and this oversized glossy Nazi photo book was published in cooperation with Der Reichsjugendführung der NSDAP, the Leadership of the HJ, in 1942 by Erwin Skagel Verlagsbuchhandlung of Leipzig.

There are big striking portraits of Reichsjugendführer Baldur von Schirach and Deputy HJ leader Artur Axmann, unknown male and female HJ Leaders all over Greater Germany, Hitler Youth Schools, and towards the end of Die Jugend des Führers Adolf Hitler, older Hitler Youth members in uniform are shown helping out the military on the home front during World War II, as well as taking over civilian jobs. Several of the photos depict Hitler Youth leaders wearing their very rare HJ Leader daggers with their uniforms.

The nearly 3-½ pound (!) book starts with a full-page portrait of Adolf Hitler and short introductions by Deputy Reichsjugendführer Artur Axmann and Nazi Propaganda Minister Dr. Joseph Goebbels. Page 9 has a photo of Hitler signing autographs for eager young Hitler Youth boys (shown above left). More than 250 full-page photos follow showing close-up portraits of uniformed Aryan German boys and girls in every imaginable circumstance , BdM girls and HJ boys playing outdoors and during organized athletic events (skiing, skating, swimming, fencing, gymnastics, wrestling but also horse riding and tennis, “sports no longer the privilege of children with wealthy parents”), paramilitary training for boys (“Boys of Today - Soldiers of Tomorrow”), motorized HJ troops, HJ Flieger and HJ Navy training, practical education for BDM girls, musical education and events, summer HJ field trips, HJ Youth Hostels, vocational training, foreign Fascist youth visiting Germany, and the Hitlerjugend in Italy and Japan, members of the HJ working in ethnic German communities in the East, and much, much more.

Inside the front cover is the property stamp of Hitlerjugend outfit number 29 in Gebiet Oberdonau, homeland of the Führer. This original 9-½ x 11-½ inch, 276-page hardcover 79 year old photo book is complete and in very good used condition, no odor. Others ask considerably more for examples of this book in poorer condition!
