Note the rubber date stamp at the top and bottom. While this poster was ‘in service’, the dates that these DAF revenue stamps were valid for was extended from 1 November 1940 with an ordinary date stamp.

This rare piece of DAF ephemera was printed by the Central Finance Department of the DAF in Berlin-Wilmersdorf in September 1939 as a piece of office wall reference material, with the cogged wheel DAF swastika logo at the bottom. It is complete with the original Third Reich twisted gray hanging cord from which it once hung in the office of the Kassenleiter (Treasurer) of NSDAP Ortsgruppe St. Johannis in Nürnberg. St. Johannis was a section of northwest downtown Nürnberg, the City of Nazi Party Days in Frankenführer and Gauleiter Julius Streicher’s Gau Franken.

This is a very rare, heavy card stock Third Reich wall reference card showing examples of the many different Wertmarken der deutschen Arbeitsfront or contribution stamps of Dr. Robert Ley’s German Labor Front (DAF). Printed on (not glued on) the colorful 8-¼ x 11-¾ inch one-sided gray wall-hanger are examples of all Beitragsmarken (contribution stamps) and Gebührenmarken (dues stamps) in use in Nazi Germany as of 1 October 1939 and extended on 1 November 1940.

There are examples of different classes of monthly DAF membership book dues stamps, DAF employment insurance contribution stamps, stamps for DAF education courses, Hitler Youth and Ausland-Organisation Beitragsmarken, Kraft durch Freude (KdF or Strength through Joy) vacation savings stamps, and KdF sport event stamps, and even a 30 Reichsmark suitcase insurance stamps for KdF vacationers!

In the lower right corner (shown right) are examples of the green 4 and 5 Reichsmark KdF-Wagen Sparmarken, KdF Car savings stamps for the future purchase of a KdF-Wagen (Volkswagen car).

We recently purchased a large number of Third Reich books and ephemera from the estate of an American Officer who held a very responsible position in the US Army in Bavaria after the end of World War II. He worked in the building that once housed the office of the NSDAP Ortsgruppe St. Johannis, and the American Officer helped himself to many of the rare anti-Semitic books in the Ortsgruppe library, and other very historical National Socialist ephemeral items like this colorful Wertmarken der deutschen Arbeitsfront sample card.

The stamps shown on this chart are themselves very collectible but it would be expensive and take a very long time to collect all the Nazi revenue stamps depicted on this amazing showcard! We have never even seen a picture of one of these rare DAF wall charts before. If you collect Nazi documents, this would be a wonderful and probably unique addition as many of these Wertmarken appear in various identity documents.
