The German language book starts out with a full-page portrait of Adolf Hitler, the Patron of the Olympic Games, a short history of the Olympics and the names of the members of the Olympic Committee.
This is the heavily illustrated, 6-1/4 x 8 inch 174 page Amtlicher Führer zur Feier der XI. Olympischen Spiele Berlin 1936 or Official Guidebook of the XI Olympic Games in Berlin, published by the Organizing Committee of the XI.Olympiade Berlin for participating athletes, but also for visitors.
IMPORTANT: this Olympic guide was published in several languages. The content was identical, except for the language. We are offering the German language edition eventhough some of the images on this USMBOOKS web page have English language captions and text.
This original 88 year old Amtlicher Führer zur Feier der XI. Olympischen Spiele Berlin 1936 is in used condition. The front cover shows substantial wear and the back cover is missing. However, the internal pages are all there and in good used condition.
The original embossed 3-¼ x 7 inch book marker with Olympic Bell advertising from steel manufacturer Bochumer Verein on it is still attached to this book with its original -faded - blue and silver ribbon (shown left).
This Official Summer Olympic Guidebook also has a map of the Reichssportfeld, pictures of different stadium tickets/passes, ticket prices per sport event and venue, color flags of participating nations, pictures of all the different Olympic medals, detailed athlete and visitor information (training facilities in/near the Olympic Village, hotels, guesthouses, public transportation, museums in Berlin), etc., etc.
Then follows the schedule for the entire famous sport event from the opening of the Olympic Village on 1 July 1936, the departure of the Olympic Flame from Olympia in Greece, the audience of the Olympic Committee with the Führer before the opening ceremony on Saturday 1 August 1936, every sport event (time, location) until the closing ceremony at 6 pm on Sunday 16 August 1936.
There is very interesting advertising (some in color) from companies such as WMF, Canadian-Pacific, Singer sewing machines, AEG, Persil, ALA, Ford V-8 of Cologne, Siemens, Deutsche Reichspost, KaDeWe, Karstadt and Hertie department stores, Ovomaltine, Reemtsma cigarettes, Büssing-NAG, and others.
Our price reflects condition.
