This very early 9-3/4 x 13-1/2 inch, 16 page heavily illustrated Nazi magazine Das Zeitbild (Our Time) replaced Der Notschrei (Shout for Help) after Hitler was appointed Chancellor in Germany. This issue of Das Zeitbild was published on 8 April 1933 in Vienna, the largest western German-speaking city in eastern Europe, and a battleground in the fight between communists, socialists and Nazis for political control. The Nazis in Vienna were still years away from reunification with their counterparts in Germany but were extremely active in spreading the word of the German revolution that had taken place a few miles away and in the battle for control of the streets of Austria. Prior to 1938 the Nazi Party was an illegal formation for a good bit of the time so any National Socialist literature from the 1920s or early 1930s has to be considered very rare.
The magazine with a striking anti-Marxist cover, is heavily illustrated with photographs and graphics not commonly found in other publications of the period. This issue of Das Zeitbild has a lead article about the fate of Germany without Adolf Hitler. Other articles are the Jewish Face of Marxism, Hitler receiving farm girls, Dr. Goebbels addressing the German film industry at the Kaiserhof Hotel, the Jewish spirit over Russia, the Godless, Germany's Defense against World Jewry, a Call to German Women, a motorcycle trip in the Sahara, the murder of a SA man in Graz, and an amazing, uncomplimentary anti-Jewish 2-page center spread.

It starts with an article about the strength of the National Socialist labor force in Germany (featuring photos of Hitler, Göring, Hindenburg and Goebbels). It also contains articles about 1 May 1933 - the National Day of Labor with photos of celebrations in different parts of the Reich, Mother's Day, an article about eskimos, the art of sausage making, and Führerappell in Wien.
