| This is a very nice example of the 6-1/2 x 9 inch, 26 page Westwall worker souvenir book as presented by a contractor erecting part of Germany’s Westwall defenses to one of his employees, Richard Grabau, in 1938. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The smooth white paper cover is deeply embossed with a Hoheitszeichen or National Emblem (eagle and swastika) with a 3-3/4 inch wingspan.
The first page of the book bears Grabau’s name and thanks to him for helping to build the Westwall in 1938 over the seal of Der Generalinspektor für das deutsche Strassenwesen in Wiesbaden. |

| There are brief introductions at the front over facsimile signatures of Adolf Hitler, Dr. Robert Ley and Dr. Fritz Todt, followed by many remarkable full-page charcoal drawings made during the construction of the “dragon’s teeth” and other features of what the World War II Allies always referred to as the Siegfried Line. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The pictures show the men, machines and results of their labor as well as meal time, barracks style housing and a worker with a spade shaking hands with a soldier carrying a rifle above the Rhine river. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
