Shown left is a wonderful original World War II soldier dictionary, of the type carried by an average Landser. The 48 page, softcover book measures 3-3/8 x 5-3/8 inches and contains hundreds of Russian words and phrases as well as their proper pronunciation in German!
Called Wehrmacht Sprachführer, the Russian words were selected to be those most useful to a soldier, and the size made it possible for them to be carried in a Nazi uniform tunic pocket.

This is a fine, small, original Third Reich Bilderduden für Soldaten (Picture Dictionary for Soldiers) or picture translator of the type carried by German Army and SS Officers in Russia and the Ukraine during World War II as an aid to communicating with the local people.
The 4-1/8 x 5-7/8 inch pocket-size softcover Third Reich book contains 66 very heavily illustrated pages arranged to provide a quick-fix for a German soldier trying to make himself understood in a very difficult, very unfamiliar language.
The subject section cover such diverse categories as the human body, hygiene, food, clothing, living quarters, restaurants, butcher shop, tobacco shop, music, motor vehicles, tools, animals and farms, first aid, etc.
As stated on the front cover, this 1941 picture dictionary is for use within the Wehrmacht only.
