WEHRMACHT FAHRSCHEINE

DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN (GERMAN STATE RAILWAY) TICKETS USED BY SOLDIERS OF THE GERMAN WEHRMACHT DURING WORLD WAR II

Wehrmacht Fahrscheine were tickets issued by officers of various field units of the Wehrmacht for travel by soldiers in Germany and German occupied territory during World War II. The 4 x 6 inch pieces of paper with a diagonal bar across them typically show the name and rank of the traveler, the class of travel and a starting point as well as a destination. They are then dated, stamped with the Feldpost stamp of the Nazi soldier's unit and signed by a company level officer.

AND RAILWAY TICKET

This is a nice original two-sided Kriegsurlaubschein or a "War Holiday Form" that doubled as a railway ticket. It was issued on 19 September 1940 to a Wehrmacht Officer, Hauptmann Prochaska by Einheit Feldpost Nr. 19925, a Luftwaffe Aufklärungsgruppe or Air Force Reconnaissance outfit and allowed him to travel by train free of charge. It was for travel to Bruck an der Mur, Germany and valid until 12 December 1940.

Hauptmann Prochaska's travels started in Wiesbaden on 19 September 1940, and the back side of this Kriegsurlaubschein was stamped again in Munich on 22 September by a military food supply outfit granting him food ration coupons for an additional three days. According to another stamp on the back he arrived in Bruck an der Mur on 25 September 1940, and while this pass was valid until December, Hauptmann Prochaska left for the war again on 24 October 1940.

Rare and in good used condition, as shown above, 100% original to the Third Reich period. Measures about 6 x 8 inches.
