VÖLKISCHER BEOBACHTER LETTER - NAZI NEWSPAPER

Völkischer Beobachter
AN ORIGINAL LETTER FROM THE VIENNA OFFICE OF THE
VÖLKISCHER BEOBACHTER,
THE LARGEST NEWSPAPER IN NAZI GERMANY
This is an absolutely original 210 x 295 mm (about 8-1/4 x 11-5/8 inches) letter on the colorful letterhead of the Wien (Vienna) office of the Völkischer Beobachter, far and away the largest circulation newspaper in Nazi Germany. The paper was printed in three editions - Berlin, Vienna and Munich - and very much dominated the daily paper news and advertising business during the Third Reich.

The company also published the anti-Semitic SS newspaper Das Schwarze Korps, as well as Der SA Mann, Die HJ, Der Pimpf, Der Vierjahresplan, Die Kunst im Dritten Reich, Der SA Führer, etc.

This letter dated 26 April 1941 is written on behalf of Mr. Kuno-Konrad Goldbach, a SS-Obersturmführer and Leutnant der Reserve who needed travel papers so he could replace one of the newspaper’s reporters in the capital of Croatia. The letter was written to the Reichsstatthalter in Vienna and was passed on by the appropriate police authorities.

An interesting and very historical piece of Third Reich newspaper and police history from the collection of authors Ray & Josephine Cowdery. Comes with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity.
