"Suddenly and unexpectedly, my beloved husband and most loyal friend to his son, our dear brother, brother-in-law and uncle, Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel, died at age 53 as a result of his severe wounds sustained on 17 July 1944." Below the list of medals and decorations it says, "His Life was Service to the Fatherland".
