Third Reich German Art
Recently purchased in Germany, this is a very nice example of the very scarce Raumbild-Verlag Otto Schönstein book The World Exhibition Paris 1937 with photographs by Heinrich Hoffmann Studios and text by E.P. Frank.

This 112-page, 8 x 11-3/4 inch hardcover book was published in Diessen am Ammersee in 1937 by Raumbild-Verlag with an introduction by Nazi Wirtschaftminister Dr. Hjalmar Schacht.

Raumbild Verlag (Three Dimensional Picture Publishers) books were unique in that they contained photographic stereo-view cards and a fold-up metal optical device with which the cards could be viewed.
The special covers of this album are about 1/2-inch thick and are die-cut with cavities that hold the 100 special 3-D stereo photographs (real photographs - NOT halftone prints) and the metal viewer with glass lenses that is set up to view the photographs. The 100 stereo photos each measure 2-3/8 x 5 inches and have a full description of the subject printed on the back in German, English and French. When seen in the viewer each picture is incredibly three-dimensional, almost as if the scene was being viewed in real life.
If you are not familiar with this Nazi three-dimensional book, you need to know that it consists of a well-written text by E.P. Frank on the subject of the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937.
We know of no other way for a history buff to observe a three-dimensional view of the magnificent Nazi exhibit hall near the Eiffel Tower or the record breaking streamlined Mercedes-Benz automobile on display inside the hall.
There are 3D photos interspersed on black pages throughout the text, and the text is written in its entirety in the German, English and French languages (three separate sections).
Naturally, the subject of the World Expo in Paris in 1937 covers a wide range. Among the 100 three-dimensional views are general views of the entire exhibition with special emphasis on the German Pavilion and its contents. All the photos have captions in German, English and French.

German industrial power and innovation took center stage in 1937 with notable exhibits of Mercedes-Benz cars and engines, science, electronics, toys, glass, ceramics, optical equipment, art, furniture, musical instruments, etc.

The ubiquitous swastika emblem of Nazi Germany is as expected, evident everywhere in the background, in flags, wallpaper, iron railings, etc.

One of the rarest of all the Third Reich Raumbild books, this one is hardbound in coral colored linen with silver blocking on the covers and the spine. It is complete with all pictures, original metal viewer and an instruction card. It is in very good condition and GUARANTEED to be absolutely authentic historical Third Reich material over 70 years old.
