Olympia
As Olympic books go, this is one of the very best. It starts with four pages of captions for the 112 big, full-page sepia photos that compose the bulk of the book.

After the captions is an introduction by Burghard von Reznicek followed by an excellent text explaining exactly how the superb photos in this book were shot.

This is an excellent example of the rare 8-3/4 x 10-3/4 inch, 144 page, very, very heavily illustrated hard cover book Was ich bei den Olympischen Spielen 1936 sah (What I saw at the Olympic Games 1936) by Dr. Paul Wolff as published by Karl Specht Verlag in Berlin in 1936.
The book contains a chart that tells what lenses, film, filters and shutter speeds were used to make the photos. That is followed by a comprehensive list of all the winners of all events at the Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany.
The book also contrasts the number of medals won by each competing country in the 1932 and 1936 Olympic Games.
Unlike most Olympic photo books, this one makes an issue of the fact that American negro athlete Jesse Owens was well-liked by his German competitors and German Olympic officials. He is shown with his German friend Lutz Long and his name is shown being carved on the Olympic stadium.
In addition covering the athletic events in Berlin, the photos also show the Olympic torch being lit in Greece, crowds at the Brandenburg Gate, opening ceremonies, Hitler and other Nazi dignitaries, the Olympic flame, faces in the crowd, the Olympic facilities, stadium details, press facilities, camera men and women, a SS man watching the swordsmen, boats, Olympic Village, food service, stone cutters, sports statues, dancers, the standard or flag of the Nazi Führer Adolf Hitler, etc.
