This lot contains two unusual items directly connected to the death of a soldier from Wien (Vienna), Germany, the second largest city if the Grossdeutschland (Greater Germany) of Adolf Hitler.
The 5-3/4 x 8 inch sheet with the Iron Cross at the top is dated 26 May 1943 and is from the Armed Forces Records Office and accompanied the return to his parents of the Wehrpaß (Permanent Military Record) of soldier Franz Juricek “fallen for the People, the State and the Führer”.
The 5-3/4 x 8-1/4 inch, four-page heavy cream colored card stock folder with the splendid Iron Cross / eagle and swastika artwork on the front was sent to the parents of the same soldier by the NSDAP or Nazi Party headquarters in Laxenburg. It expresses their sympathy “in these burdensome hours of history”.
Very good condition.
