This is an excellent, rare, heavily illustrated German language hardcover book that can easily be considered the final word on all things related to weapons, shooting, shooting technology and the manufacture of such things around the world. It is from the second revised and expanded edition of 4000 in 1937 as published by F.C. Mayer Verlag of Munich.

The book Waffen-Lexikon für Jäger und Schützen (Weapons Encyclopedia for Hunters and Riflemen) by Richard Mahrholdt is dedicated to Reichsjägermeister Generaloberst Hermann Göring and was published in cooperation with the German Research Institute for Handguns in Berlin-Wannsee where the Wannsee Conference was held a few years later.

With an extremely competent text that almost over-explains most subjects and fine illustrations and photos that depict even the most complicated ideas, this book covers the subjects of weapons and ammunition, field experience and technology as nothing else published in Germany during the Nazi era.

The book has wonderful things to say about Colt, Browning and Smith & Wesson products as well as those of Walther, Mauser, Haenel, Krieghoff, Marlin, Winchester, Erma, etc., etc., etc.

The book contains hundreds of illustrations of even the most obscure material, as well as shooting tables, proof marks, a bibliography and around 20 pages of wonderful German advertising of the period. The book is simply fundamental in the library of anybody interested in the subject.

This 81 year old 6-¼ x 8-¾ inch, 420-page hardcover Nazi book is in nice used condition and has a handwritten dedication on the front flyleaf dated January 1939. No offensive odor.
