This is a good example of the very scarce 6 x 9 inch, 106 page heavily illustrated book ,,Einsatz der Polizei’’ (Deployment of the Police in Combat) by Hauptmann der Schutzpolizei der Reserve Hans Richter and published by the Zentralverlag der NSDAP (The Nazi Party Central Publishing House) Franz Eher in München (Munich), Germany in 1941.

With a full-page photo portrait of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler and a foreword by General der Polizei Kurt Dalugue, this book tells the story of police combat units deployed in the field on the eastern, northern and western fronts.

Shortly after the September 1939 invasion of Poland, in January 1940, German Ordnungspolizei (Order Police) units were deployed for service in occupied territory. Other units were sent to Norway in the spring of 1940, and to France for the brief campaign there in May 1940.

This book follows the Nazi police units from deployment through Poland, Norway and France, through the Maginot Line to the beaches at Dunkirk where British Forces that were unable to escape were made prisoners-of-war. The history of the police units ends with the publication of this book early in 1941 before they were sent into the Soviet Union.

We bought this example of the book Einsatz der Polizei by Hauptmann der Schutzpolizei der Reserve Hans Richter in Germany and that it why the cover is somewhat faded around a label the previous owner had placed over the forbidden police version of the Nazi eagle and swastika.

We have a second copy of this rare Nazi police book with a much better cover (right). At some point someone tore out the first six pages (the blank fly-leaf through the title page - none of the text or photos) and we have replaced them with perfect photocopies.
