This is a splendid original 1944 dated World War II Nazi Army map of portions of Rumania and Bulgaria, that is printed in several colors on foldable cloth. It is panel IV 6 Russe and is NOT a Luftwaffe map but is the type of map designed for use by motorized infantry like Panzer Grenadiers, motorcycle riders, mountain troops and armored troops where unfolding a paper map in a small place would be very complicated or dangerous.

The 29 x 31 inch map is in a very large scale in which 1 centimeter (about 1/2 inch) is equal to 1 kilometer (about 6/10 of a mile) so that block of buildings and cross roads in small towns are perfectly obvious. The keys to the map indicate the sizes of the towns and provides names in Rumanian, Bulgarian and German as well as in cyrillic letters in the southern half or so. The river running through the map from southwest to northeast is the Donau or Danube river. It was published by the German Chief of War Maps for the OKH Generalstab des Heeres and says it is for official use only.

The map is printed in a very finely and tightly woven cotton fabric with a polished surface something like sateen so that the printing is very crisp and sharp. This map was captured by an American GI at least 65 years ago and it is still in very good used condition, with no wear and no soiling.

If you'd like an example of a very rare large scale Wehrmacht combat map in remarkable condition it would be hard to do better than this. Fine condition.
