This is a rare piece of Third Reich ephemera which surprisingly survived the last 85 years. The four-page 5-7/8 x 8-3/8 inch piece has information about the Preussisch-Süddeutschen Klassenlotterie, the state lottery of October-November 1938 as well as a detachable order form to purchase official lots.

The sales copy points out that buying lottery tickets and winning the prize of up to 67,5 million Reichsmarks could be your way to owning your own home (Ein Eigenheim - an idyllic example shown on the front cover). Winning would facilitate carefree and happy living, but of course a small investment in lottery tickets would be necessary.

The back panel has details about drawings in October and November 1938, the different classes, payouts out in Reichsmarks, bonus prizes, etc. The Bestellkarte or order form was never cut off or sent to the business office of the Staatliche Lotterie-Einnahme located at 31/32 Nollendorfstrasse in Berlin. Today this address is the home of Muncheese, a, Italian take-out restaurant.
