April / May 1941 Wehrmacht campaign in Yugoslavia
Vorstoss nach Bosnien
commanding general of the 51st Army Corps

Volksdeutschen in Yugoslvaia welcome the Wehrmacht
Vorstoss nach Bosnien (Advance to Bosnia) is a 6 x 8-¼ inch, 130 page hardcover book assembled and published by the Generalkommando LI. Armeekorps in 1941. It starts with a color illustration of the commanding general of the 51st Army Corps and then highlights Germany's "Balkan peace politics" from 1 September 1939 to 25 March 1941. This is followed by text and photos of the invasion of Yugoslavia that started on 6 April 1941. German military victory was declared on 4 May 1941and only 22 German soldiers from the unit were killed and 68 Kameraden were wounded during the campaign.

Knights Cross recipient Oberfeldwebel Conrad
The photos show two Division Commanders, German Generals reading battle maps, German infantrymen on the move, Knights Cross recipient Oberfeldwebel Conrad, blown-up bridges and burned out bunkers, ethnic Germans welcoming motorized Wehrmacht troops, Nazi motorcycles on bad roads, Nazi artillery on the move, battle damage, gypsy children, Croatian ladies dressed up for Easter, Wehrmacht troops in front of a mosque, Serbian POWs, etc.
German invasion of Yugoslavia 1941
There are several pages with drawings by soldiers of the 51st Army Corps and there is a double-page spread showing the names of the men of the 51st Army Corps who died during the advance to Bosnia. While books such as this published during the war don't name the commanders in the text, they do picture them and they can easily be identified these days using information on the internet.

This 80+ year old hardcover example of Vorstoss nach Bosnien has gold blocking on the cover and spine. The book is fully indexed and is in very nice, little-used condition. No odor.
