This is a wonderful old piece of historical boxing literature. It is the 9-1/4 x 12-1/2 inch heavily illustrated 16 page data and information souvenir booklet of the European Championship Heavyweight boxing battle in Stuttgart, Germany on 2 July 1939 between former World Champion Max Schmeling and his German opponent Adolf Heuser.
Under the sponsorship of the Nazi Party's Deutsche Arbeitsfront organization Kraft durch Freude, the two met in the Schwabenring in the Adolf Hitler Kampfbahn at Stuttgart and thrilled the fans.
The photos show both men working out and relaxing, and each man's record is published in detail. There are biographies and interesting information on each of the boxers. This was Max Schmeling's first fight after losing to American Joe Louis in a first round knock-out in New York on 26 June 1938. Heuser had just beaten Heinz Lazek of Vienna in a 5th round TKO in Berlin on 18 March 1939.
This newsprint booklet was published by Verlag Robert Mölich of Berlin and sold for 20 Reichspfennigs, the equivalent of 8 US cents at the time. Rare and in very good used condition.
