TALL BLACK LEATHER MARCHING BOOTS
VERY WELL-MADE
TALL BLACK LEATHER
MARCHING BOOTS -
PERFECT FOR A
RE-ENACTOR OR
GERMAN UNIFORM
DISPLAY - SIZE 8
This is a far better than average pair of old German Army style Marsch-Stieffel (marching boots or combat boots) nearly identical to those worn by troops of the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS during the Third Reich. They are very little worn and the leather is perfectly supple.
The boots are about US size 8-9. The bottom of each original leather sole measures 11-1/2 inches (29 cm) from the tip of the toe to the end of the rubber heel, by 4-1/4 inches (11 cm) wide at the widest part.
The top of the boot is 16-1/2 inches (42 cm) off the floor.
We bought this pair of boots locally here in the Black Hills because of their fine appearance and wonderful condition. They came from the estate of a motorcyclist who apparently used them only occassionally for special police functions.
We believe they were made in 1951 for Montgemery Ward Company as that name appears on each heel rubber. The boots have never been repaired, resoled or rehealed and probably have been polished only a couple of times.
There is a 7/8 inch wide leather strap with buckle across the instep of each boot that could be carefully removed using an Exacto knife, if desired. The adjustible strap at the top of each boot was a common feature on many World War II German boots. Inside the top of each boot the following information is stamped: 8 E22068L above 24 7618 51
