Nazi German binocular case

This is a complete 1-1/4 pound, 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 x 7 inch two-part Nazi bakelite binocular case as used by the German Waffen-SS and Wehrmacht during World War II to carry the standard 6x30 Dienstglas or military binocular.

The case is complete with internal padding, leather straps, buckles, etc.

While the leather and metal parts are all there, most of the metal parts have light surface rust as shown in our photos and the leather has hardened with age to the extend that it must be replaced. Fortunately, all the pieces are there to be used as patterns.

There are two steel studs on the bottom of the case to attach the belt straps but they can not be seen in our photos. If you look carefully at our photo showing the front of the case you will see a short crack in the front of the body just above the M in .com. This crack was doubtless cause by a blow to the case while in service and is visible on the inside of the case as well. Amazingly, it does not seem to have weakened the case in any way.

Could easily be restored to fine condition for use by a re-enactor or in a museum display. These WW2 German bakelite binocular cases are extremely hard to find complete and in nice condition like this one.
