This is the real thing, not some eagle and swastika laden phantom piece produced by modern-day British or Russian craftsmen for purchase by those desiring a “striking Nazi piece”. The world in the 21st century is so burdened with overblown “Las Vegas style” Nazi junk that it is difficult for many collectors to grasp the fact that tasteful design was a high priority in Third Reich Germany.
This handmade earthenware Bierkrug or Bier Stein is in a 0,5 liter size measuring just over 6 inches tall and 3-3/4 inches in diameter. Other than the size, the gray stoneware mug is unmarked. The tasteful, patinaed pewter lid is engraved with a presentation to someone working on the Autobahn, from his colleagues.
The inscription on the lid says Gewidmet von deinen Arbeitskameraden b.d. Reichsautobahn zu deinem 25. Ehejubiläum (Dedicated by Your Fellow Workers on the Reichsautobahn on the Occasion of Your 25th Wedding Anniversary).
This beer mug has no cracks, chips or other damage. A wonderful piece of real Reichsautobahn material in excellent used condition.
