Hitler and his Field Marshals and Generals

This is a fine, complete example of the huge 16-1/4 x 20-1/4 inch hardcover Mappe or portfolio of full-color prints of 20 paintings selected as among the very best shown at the Grosse deutsche Kunstausstellung or Greater German Art Exhibition of 1941, held at the Haus der deutschen Kunst (House of German Art) in München (Munich), Germany. The portfolio was produced by Verlag Heinrich Hoffmann, German experts in the color reproduction of art, and printed at the renowned color printing firm of F. Bruckmann in München.

The Mappe contains a huge four-page title sheet which includes an index to the prints. Each of the selected full-color fine art prints are mounted on heavy 16 x 20 inch embossed sheets, and measure about 10 x 15 inches.

The selection consists of paintings of Hitler, Hitler and his Field Marshals and Generals, Panzers in assault, Wehrmacht troops in assault boats, PAK troops in action, soldier - pilot - sailor, a submarine and crew, nudes, landscapes, etc.

The paintings selected for this folio were done by artists like Sepp Hilz, Franz Triebsch, Conrad Hommel, Claus Bergen, Elk Eber, Hermann Gradl, Julius Paul Junghanns, Rudolf Lipus, Paul Mathias Padua, etc.

We have seen individual prints from this portfolio sell framed for hundreds of dollars and unframed for more than $100.00. It is very, very rare to find a set complete and none of the pictures missing.

In addition to the folio and the full set of prints we are also offering at no extra cost the complete 174 page, 6 x 8 inch catalog of the 1941 Grosse deutsche Kunstausstellung at the House of German Art, shown left.

The catalog contains the entire index to all the paintings in the exhibition, reproductions of 66 of the paintings (including the very famous portrait of SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich by Josef Vietze and the portrait of Knights Cross of the Iron Cross winner General Dietl), and advertising from hotels, galleries, etc.

The 1941 exhibition catalog and rare art portfolio and its contents are all in excellent condition.
