This is a very special limited First Edition Nazi aircraft recognition book from 1943 with a foreword by Reichsmarschall of the Greater German Reich and Commander in Chief of the Luftwaffe, Hermann Göring. It is the 8-¼ x 11-¾ inch, 108-page very, very heavily illustrated Die Flugzeug Erkennung (The Recognition of Aircraft) by H.E. Voigt and A. Weber of the Reichsluftfahrtministerium and the Luftwaffe as published by Albert Limbach Verlag KG of Berlin - Wien - Leipzig in 1943. The edition consisted on 10,000 copies of which very few survived the war complete and in this nice used condition.

The book explains that every aircraft is easily identifiable by certain features and that all aircraft are broken down into types such as bombers, fighters, transport aircraft, etc. It then explains the systemization plans used by Germans for the quick identification of aircraft in flight from all angles. That is followed by 38 pages of very clear postcard size (3 x 5-½ inches) pictures, three pictures per page. A comprehensive index follows listing the planes shown by the countries of Germany, Italy, France, England and the USSR.

Coming next is a 28-page section of tabbed pages that allow very quick access to information about aircraft based on a straight-on front view showing the number of motors and the placement of the wings, landing gear and tail. Yet another section shows main features of various aircraft outlined in red as well as 12 pages of outlines of aircraft, 10 per page. There are two large fold-out charts in the back of the book, one showing the national insignia used on aircraft in color and another depicting the families of aircraft by categories.

Aircraft shown in the book include from everything from the Fw190 and Me109F to Fieseler Storch, Spitfire to the Soviet U-2.

A rare and extremely useful 19343 Nazi aircraft recognition book in very nice condition - the best of them all.
