This is a very nice original 24-page Nazi Luftwaffe Soldbuch in the name of Regierungsrat (Administration Major) Albrecht Weick, a meteorologist, issued 7 November 1939 by the Fliegerhorstkommandantur at Sorau Airfield near Berlin.

The 30 year old Weick had been called up on 26 August 1939 and remained in the Luftwaffe until his capture on 29 May 1945 when he was issued Prisoner of War member 31G 4 201 563. During his service Weick received the Entry into Sudetenland medal on 16 August 1940 (Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938) and the War Merit Cross (Kriegsverdienstkreuz) with Swords (1 September 1941). His Soldbuch shows he was issued a PPK pistol on 1 October 1942.

Research into Weick’s Luftwaffe record shows he was attached to the Kommandant’s office at both Sorau and Sprottau airfields south east of Berlin through 3 October 1942.

From 4 October 1942 through 21 July 1944 he served as a meteorologist for the Northern Russian Front, and from 21 July 1944 to the end of the war he was engaged in weather work for military air traffic control at Salzburg, Germany, a Me262 jet fighter base.

Weick’s security photo inside the front cover of the Soldbuch is stamped by Luftwaffe Feldpost number L52353 and the first page bears quarterly security stamps for all of 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943 and the first three quarters of 1944.

This is a nice Soldbuch for a Luftwaffe Officer who saw plenty of service in a unique circumstance during World War II. The cover and spine are taped but overall the book is in very good condition.
