This is a nice example of the 3-3/4 x 5-5/8 inch heavily illustrated 360 page hard cover 1942 Deutscher Luftwaffen Kalender, a pocket sized informational calendar or handbook published by J.M. Reindl Verlag in Bamberg with the approval of the Nazi Air Ministry. This Third Reich wartime Air Force almanac starts with a photo of Adolf Hitler and Hermann Goering taken on 4 September 1940 after the award ceremony for new Field Marshals Milch, Kesselring and Sperrle.
A patriotic introduction by the publisher and a Preface by Generalfeldmarschall and Generalinspektor Erhard Milch is followed by a list of all the members of die Reichsregierung or the State Government (Hitler, Göring, Heydrich, Ribbentrop, Goebbels, Frick, Funk, Darré, Rust, Dorpmüller, Ohnesorge, Frank, Lammers, Todt, Rosenberg, etc.) and a brief overview of the first two years of World War II.
The 52 page daily calendar portion of this book is supplemented by photos of members of different sections of the Wehrmacht in action, and all sorts of information on flight equipment, weapons, Luftwaffe ranks, important German dates / holidays, aircraft profiles, how to read a map, how to pitch a tent, Luftwaffe members who were recipients of the Knights Cross, Nazi flags, and advertising related to aviation by companies such as Messerschmitt, Telefunken, Henschel, Junkers, Heinkel, Hensoldt, Hanomag, Drägerwerk, Mauser, Triumph Werke, BMW, Mercedes Benz, etc.
