Yes, we know the ribbon on this beautiful 1813-1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class is the ribbon commonly associated with the War Merit Cross of 1939, but it is the old ribbon and hand-sewn brass German safety pin that were on the medal when we bought it, so they are going with it. The new owner can discard the ribbon and/or replace it with a black and white World War I type ribbon.

The 44 mm wide Iron Cross itself has a beautifully die-struck, magnetic center in an unmarked but finely detailed silver or German silver frame. The medal with the ribbon weighs 17 grams or 0.6 ounces.
