ADOLF HITLERS WAHLHEIMAT
(THE HOMELAND ADOLF HITLER CHOSE) |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Before it was remodeled into the Berghof, the home Hitler chose to live in on the Obersalzberg high above Berchtesgaden in the Alps of Bayern (Bavaria) was called Haus Wachenfeld. It was a simple farm house with a million dollar view of Dietrich Eckart country, some of the most beautiful real estate in the world. Eckart lived in Berchtesgaden and greatly influenced the NSDAP Führer and Hitler fell in love with the area. He moved there in 1924 along with his sister Angela and his niece Geli.

The rare example of Adolf Hitlers Wahlheimat (The Homeland Adolf Hitler Chose) we offer here measures about 6-1/2 x 9-1/2 inches, has over 60 heavily illustrated pages including 22 wonderful full-page pencil illustrations by Karl Schuster-Winkelhof of subjects in and around Germany’s new 23rd Reichskanzler. Each drawing has a sentence or a paragraph of descriptive text.
Some of the subjects shown include downtown Berchtesgaden (including Dietrich Eckart’s grave), the Obersalzberg including the Hitler Haus, Haus Wachenfeld (the Hitler house) with Hitler’s three dogs in the foreground, interiors of the Hitler house and the Hotel Zum Türken nearby, the views from Hitler’s windows, SS and SA guards, and there is even a picture of Hitler’s simple brass bed with a photo of his mother on the wall above it.

At the back of this excellent book are 14 pages of very sympathetic, patriotic text by Walter Schmidkunz describing the area, and more specifically the inside and outside of the house Adolf Hitler owned on the Obersalzberg mountain. Adolf Hitlers Wahlheimat was published by Münchner Buchverlag in München (Munich), Germany in 1933.
